Our gut, often referred to as our “second brain” is deeply affected by stress and emotions. During times of grief, the gut-brain connection can lead to digestive issues, disrupted appetite, and a heightened sensitivity to certain foods.
I have always felt that grief is felt throughout the entire body. It doesn’t just affect us emotionally, but physically as well. We literally hurt all over. In the moment, we are just trying to get through as best we can and we often neglect our basic needs in the process.
The brain and the gut are interconnected! 🧠 Stress and emotions affect the way our bodies digest food which is why stress management is so crucial for gut health.
