Private residence in SE Elk Grove

(address provided upon registration)

10:00 am - 12:00 pm

What mindful self-compassion is:

-The difference between self-care/self-compassion and self-pity/self-compassion.

-The healing benefits of self-compassion.

-Ways to incorporate self-compassion practices into your daily life.

The workshop would include gentle guided practices, teaching time, and Q&A.

Elk Grove Mindfulness Meditation offers instruction and guided practices rooted in Vipassana (Insight) Meditation and secular Buddhist Psychology.  Classes provide a warm, supportive environment where beginners can explore Mindfulness Meditation and those with experience can deepen their practice.  Individuals of all backgrounds and belief systems are welcomed into this sangha (community).

Facilitated by Jennifer Newkom of Elk Grove Mindfulness

I began practicing mindfulness and meditation more than 20 years ago due to the challenges of chronic illness.  Since that time, I have found these teachings and techniques to be not only supportive, but deeply transformative.  They are interwoven into all aspects of my life - an "inner GPS" of sorts for this human journey.

I consider it a tremendous honor to be able to share the wisdom and compassion of Vipassana Meditation with you, to guide you home to yourself.  There truly is no greater gift  than the gift of presence.

I hold degrees in Psychology and Education and am a graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program under senior teachers Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.  I have also completed the Mindful Schools training and Level 1 iRest Yoga Nidra teacher training.

Prior to becoming a mindfulness teacher, I taught elementary school for 20 years.  Children taught me the importance of an open heart and an open mind, qualities I hope to share with you.
